Our Story
Sangeet Sabha, Bandra East completed 50 glorious years in March 2026. Since its inaugural concert on 31st March 1976 — blessed by the divine voice of Gaan Saraswati Kishoritai Amonkar on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa — the Sabha has been an unwavering guardian of Indian Classical Music in Mumbai.
Over these five decades, the Sabha's stage has been graced by legends like Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Kumar Gandharva, Pt. Mallikarjun Mansur, Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki, Vidushi Shobha Gurtu, Ustad Abdul Halim Jafar Khan, and many more luminaries of Hindustani classical tradition.
The Sabha organizes approximately 10 concerts annually — spanning pure classical Khayal, semi-classical Thumri, Tappa, Kajri, Dadra, Marathi Bhav-Bhakti-Natya Geet, and Sufi-Ghazal evenings. Every year a grand festival is organized to celebrate the rich tapestry of Indian musical forms.

Voices of the Community
Sangeet Sabha has been a sanctuary for classical music lovers in Mumbai for five decades. The quality of artists they bring is unmatched — each concert is a divine experience. I have been a life member since 1998 and the journey has been truly enriching.
The Golden Jubilee celebrations in March 2026 were simply spectacular. The Grand Finale featuring Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande at NCPA was one of the finest classical concerts I have ever attended. Sangeet Sabha continues to be the heartbeat of Hindustani music in Bandra.
What strikes me most about Sangeet Sabha is their unwavering commitment to authentic classical music. In an era of commercialization, they have kept the purity of Khayal and Dhrupad alive. A true cultural treasure of Bandra East.
